Training
Position :
A motor manufacturer
introduced a new integrated dealer computer system. The installation
programme was planned as being over two years. Approximately 1800 staff
of different disciplines required pre installation training to ensure a
smooth changeover. Neither the computer supplier or the motor
manufacturer had sufficient competent staff to provide the required
training.
Objective :
Ensure that all staff
were competent to operate the new computer system at the date of
installation.
Method :
- Review the prototype
test system
- Visit a sample of
dealers to ascertain their competence and needs
- Produce draft course
content and materials to cover each discipline
- Set up a dummy
system allowing simultaneous access to 10 delegates
- Set up dummy data to
highlight key areas
- Launch pilot courses
with dealer, importer, and computer supplier staff as delegates
- Incorporate
resulting improvements into materials
- Launch training
course programme
